ART BY ALISON BRITTON

_JPG.jpg)
I am an Irish artist living on the Fermanagh / Donegal border.
I am best known for my batik work , the ancient art of resist dying fabric using hot wax.
This wonderful technique is given a contemporary twist in my work with experimental use of mixed media to create vibrant and decorative art works.
My influences are many , not least the beautiful Lough Erne in Fermanagh and the stunning beaches of Donegal.
Nature in all its glory is a constant in my art inspiring intricate pattern and vibrant colour.
My love for vintage and antique fabrics and wall papers is also very evident in my recent work.
The unique combination of the art of batik and painterly effects give my work a greater depth than that found in traditional batik.
