ART BY ALISON BRITTON
Hi and welcome to my web site.
I am an Irish artist based on the Fermanagh / Donegal border where across the yard from our home we own the `The Cowshed Gallery ` a converted stone barn which houses my studio and small gallery area
.I am best known for my `Batik` work which I have experimented with extensively over the years . Batik is essentially a process of resist dying fabric using hot wax which is applied using a tjanting or brushes - extensively used in indonesia Using an eclectic mix of objects for mark making and various weights of both paper and fabric I strive to put my own personal stamp on the ancient technique.
Most recently I have been merging my love of painting in all media with batik in an innovative and often organic way.
As you browse my web site my love of colour and texture is obvious .My inspirations are many, not least the stunning scenery of Fermanagh and Donegal, from which I draw much inspiration.
Other inspiration comes from my love of gardening , flora and fauna in all its beauty are a constant in my work.
Most recently I have been creating my large exotic birds influenced largely from a selection of antique wall coverings, but as always given a contemporary twist and an abudance of pattern and dazzling colour.
Visitors are most welcome to come and browse my new range of prints , original art, and for something unique I am more than happy to work to commission .
As we live on site please call and if we are about we will happily let you in to the gallery for a look.
